GI Joke is a four-piece grindcore squad from Belgium. We formed in 2005 and by 2006 we were attacking
stages in Belgium, Holland and Germany. By then we had recorded our CD-r ‘Real Belgian Heroes’, DIY of
course. It was released again later as a split-tape with another Belgian band, Uitschot.
GI Joke was laid to rest in 2007, when drummer Nils got the chance to join Agathocles.
Six years later the four of us joined forces again and started writing new material, which resulted in gigs in
Belgium and Holland and a recording for a split-7-inch with Agathocles, to be released early 2015.
It ‘ll be released through 4 labels : Grindfather Productions, Fuckyeah Records, Bloody Lips Records and
CoffinfeederDistro.
In March 2015 new recordings are scheduled, this time for a split-7-inch with Brasilian outfit Test and
Mesrine (Canada)
After this several gigs happened and in may we did a tour with Rabid Dogs (Italy). The tour took us too;
Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Cz republic and Belgium
In meanwhile some songs were used for compilations in Malaysia and Indonesia.
In 2016 (april) new recordings happened for two other split EP’s.
One with Intestinal disease (Belgium) and Goat Felch (Usa)
In meanwhile the discography tape came out too with all recordings over the 10 years.
Other shows are booked in Belgium , Germany (arscholio festival in Stavenhagen). And a tour that took us
too Denmark, Germany, Holland, Cz Republic, Hungary
In 2017 we did some shows around Belgium,,, and did some recording for a 4 way split with proletar,
social chaos and ltd an.
In 2017 nils lived a time in brazil so end march Gi Joke took a break
2018 start with a Belgium gig and a tour that takes us too; Belgium, france, Suisse, Italy, Slovenia and
Germany. For the rest some gigs in Belgium, Holland and Germany are planned.
After we did some shows around mainly in Germany and Belgium
2019: working on a full Lp.
We’re eager to spread our music to the rest of the world and are looking for stages to do so.
